For clinics, hospitals and practices

Reminders patients answer, and a reception that is not one phone.

Reception rings patients one at a time to confirm tomorrow’s appointments. The ones who do not pick up still do not turn up, and the patients who message the clinic’s WhatsApp reach whichever handset it is on today. Sema sends the reminder where people read, and puts the answers in one inbox your front desk shares.

What you would use it for

Appointment reminders

Update

An approved reminder the day before, with buttons to confirm or ask to reschedule. The tap lands in the shared inbox, and opens a 24-hour window to answer in.

Results are ready

Update

A notice that results can be collected (never the results themselves), sent from the inbox or your own system through the API.

After hours, handled

Reply

An away message outside your opening hours that says what to do in an emergency, and a flow that asks the reason for the visit and routes it to the right team for the morning.

KES 0.65 a reply on Growth; free for the first 1,000 a month.

One front desk

Reply

Everyone on reception answers the same number. Notes stay internal, conversations are assigned, and each one is resolved with a reason your reports can count.

A month, worked out

What it would cost

A practice sending 2,400 reminders and 600 results-ready notices a month, and answering the replies. The replies cost least of all: they come inside the window the patient’s own message opened, and the first 1,000 a month are free.

The parts behind it

  • Appointments →

Booked in the chat or on your page, reminded the day and the hour before, in Google Calendar or Outlook.

  • The inbox →

One front desk on one number, with notes the patient never sees.

  • Automations →

After hours handled, and the reason for a visit asked before the morning.

  • AI →

Hours, location and prices answered from what you wrote, and never a diagnosis.

Ready for your trade

Your customers’ data, protected

A message is read on a lock screen, by whoever holds the phone. A workspace set up as a clinic, hospital or pharmacy has its templates checked for words that would give a condition away, before Meta sees them.

Roles the database enforces

Owner, admin, manager, agent, billing and viewer. The billing role reads the money and never a conversation, however it connects.

Two-factor sign-in, for everyone

An owner can require a code from an authenticator app of everybody in the workspace.

An activity log

Sign-ins, failed sign-ins, team changes and keys: who, when and from where.

Consent on the record

When and how each customer agreed, as Kenya’s Data Protection Act asks, and STOP honoured in English and Kiswahili.

Kept as long as you choose

Messages kept until deleted, or from 30 days to five years, and a customer’s data exported or erased on request.

Is it working?

Sema checks itself every minute, and says what it found on its status page.

What people ask first

Is patient information safe in it?
Access is set by role and enforced by the database, two-factor sign-in with an authenticator app is there for everyone on the team, sign-ins and changes are logged, and you choose how long messages are kept. We do not claim certifications we do not hold. Keep clinical detail out of WhatsApp: send the notice, not the result.
Can a doctor see only their own patients?
Teams decide who is given a conversation, not who can read it: everyone in a workspace can read its conversations. If that matters, a separate number in a separate workspace keeps them apart.
What about emergencies?
WhatsApp is not an emergency line, and Sema does not pretend to be one. The away message tells people what to do instead, every time.
Can patients pay in the chat?
Yes, into the practice’s own paybill or till: reception sends the M-Pesa prompt from the conversation, and sees it paid, with the receipt, once M-Pesa confirms it.
